So, I'm still writing, and we're still recording. We nailed a pretty creepy one that I just wrote a few nights ago. It's called "Your Personal Stalker." It's oddly comforting and creepy all at once.
I'm getting ready to head to Florida for a week. Some time off of work and from music since I'll have no room in the car for my guitar. I'd LOVE to take it and play on the beach or something. C'mon guy with a guitar on the beach...what chick's not gonna dig that!
Anyway, you know the drill...keep checking back and I'll keep posting.

Last night we recorded a song that I wrote probably like 4-5 years ago! There has been an acoustic version of "Jane" on the web site for quite some time, but it's only now that we finally have a full blown version, basically like I've been hearing it in my head for years!!!
What's funny is, that I wrote Jane before I really learned how to write songs well, but it still holds up against the material I'm writing it today. I consider it the luckiest song I've ever written I guess. Kind of like Jewel with "Who Will Save Your Soul?" which she wrote when she was only sixteen.
Outside of that, I'm still writing stuff. Now matter how much I try to cut myself off I keep adding to the list of songs we still have to work on. But that's okay because we are moving along at a much more efficient rate than I ever would have imagined that we would. We are hoping to finish the actual recording phase of this album by the middle of July so that we can get going on final production/mixing and also on the actual visual layout of the album.
Until next time...

It's really hard to keep coming up with creative greetings
Rolled out a song called "Battery Acid" the other night. It's got kind of a retro vibe, but it rocks pretty hard. I was literally writing some of the lyrics as we recorded it. It was a lot of fun, and sort of evolved from an idea to just go crazy. Then it turned into an actual song...I think it'll be the shortest song on the record at 2:29.
We've got like 8.5 songs done at this point...the record is coming along great!!!
Later guys!

We finally got the balls to do it! And by "it" I mean "Strange Town," the song we recorded tonight that is going to effectively be sort of the "first single" off of the new record. Look for it online in
mid-july or so. Depending on what day you ask me I'd say it's the best song I've ever written.
At this point we basically have all of the music written for the album, and I just need to stop being so lazy and finish up some lyrics. Things are going very well.
Finally, we went and saw No Doubt and Blink 182 in Indy last week. ND was amazing...see them if you ever get the chance. Blink was pretty good too, but (and I can't believe I'm about to say this) they had their amps turned up too loud. It wasn't so much music as a wall of noise...but a great energy to the show.
Hopefully soon we're gonna get some new stuff on the website. A band bio is coming, plus a page of links that we feel are worthwhile sites to visit. Mostly just stuff that we in Thoughtbrake enjoy and want to pass along to you!
I'll keep posting, so you guys keep reading.
God Bless!
